Who I am

I am an immigration attorney, advocate, and consultant committed to serving immigrants and their communities with compassion and expertise. I graduated from Calvin University in 2008 with bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and social work, then earned my law degree cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law in 2012, specializing in public interest, immigration, and Indian law. Over the years, I have worked with the Diocese of Grand Rapids Immigration Legal Services, Waller Law Office, and as a contracted attorney for Justice for Our Neighbors.

In 2015, I founded Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates, a nonprofit law office dedicated to providing immigration legal services and community education. After leading the organization for a decade, I transitioned in April 2025 to establish Yore Law Office and Consulting, where I continue my mission of empowering immigrants through expert legal guidance, advocacy, and strategic consulting. I currently serve as the chair of the State Bar of Michigan Immigration Law Section and co-chair of the board of Out on the Lakeshore, and I previously co-chaired the Michigan Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.

Throughout my career, I have been honored to receive the 2015 City of Holland Human Relations Commission Social Justice Award and the Holland Young Professional of the Year award. Having lived in Honduras and Mexico, I speak and write fluent Spanish and bring a deep cultural understanding to my work. As a skilled public speaker and expert in trauma-informed legal practice, I am dedicated to advocating for immigrant rights and equipping individuals and organizations with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of the U.S. immigration system.
